Purpose

Supervise the mission-critical information system that supports academic information at Saga University, promote the development of the academic information environment at the university, and enhance the functions of electronic libraries.

Description of specific business activities

Educational Support

  1. Establish, manage, and operate an information processing laboratory, and develop and maintain a university-wide information education system.
  2. Support the computerization and multimedia of specialized and common basic education.
  3. Promote spontaneous learning and information exchange by providing public terminals and information outlets.
  4. Support information education at attached kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, and schools for the disabled.
  5. To support distribution and collection of lecture materials and reports through networks such as WWW and e-mail.
  6. To conduct research on technological trends in university educational computer environments.
  7. Research and development of new technologies and software.

Research Support

  1. Establish and maintain the mission-critical information systems for research support.
  2. Support the advancement of research using information technology.
  3. Support the promotion of research exchange between Japan and overseas through e-mail and other networks.
  4. Support the publication of research and development results through networks such as WWW.
  5. The research and study of technological trend on the research computer environment of the university is carried out.
  6. Research and development of new technologies, software and information technology applications.

Network Support

  1. Develop and maintain the mission-critical network, and upgrade it.
  2. Contribute to the systematic development of the university-wide network through communication and coordination.
  3. The research and study of the technological trend on network system and application is carried out.
  4. Research and develop new technologies, software, and hardware.
  5. Introduce, maintain, and manage various servers, and improve network services.

Network Safety Management

  1. Take preventive measures against unauthorized access.
  2. Manage access records for rogue access tracking.
  3. Collect information on unauthorized access and disseminate it to the university.
  4. Take measures to prevent unauthorized access.

Electronic Library

  1. Maintain and manage the library system.
  2. Enhance and strengthen multimedia and electronic library functions utilizing networks and computers.
  3. Support the construction of academic databases.
  4. To support the construction of an education database.
  5. Support the dissemination of information within the university.
  6. Enhance and strengthen information collection functions using the Internet.

Support For In-House Computerization

  1. Provide technical support for the computerization of campus operations in order to improve university operations.
  2. To support advanced computerization of an interface part between education research activities and office processing.
  3. It collects various information on computers and networks and provides it to the university.
  4. Technical consultation services concerning computers and networks are provided to each department of the university.
  5. To publicize and provide training in new computer and network usage techniques.

Support For Regional Computerization

  1. Provide technical support for regional computerization and contribute to the sound development of the region.
  2. Provide technical cooperation for primary and secondary education.
