Help on the Authentication System
How to use
- Connect your PC to the network via
a network jack or wireless LAN.
- Run a web browser, and access any
web site.
- Authentication page is displayed.
- Enter your userID and password
provided by CNC(Computer and Network Center).
- Accept pages are displayed.
- Keep the browser active while
using the network.
- Close the browser when ending network access.
Though using Opengate authentication is simple, take note of the
following:
- Be consistent with the purpose of
the network.
- The available area for the
network connection is shown on the web page of CNC.
- If you have a CNC userID, you can
use it. No application form is needed.
- If you do not have a CNC userID,
get one from a clerk.
- Close the web browser after using
the network. If you do not, you will be held responsible for
other people potentially using your session.
- Even when you want to use other
network applications such as mail or telnet, you should follow the
above procedure.
- Enable JavaScript in your browser.
Error Check List
Do nearby users encounter the same error?
If so, the
cause is probably a server error. Please report the error to
CNC.
If not, the cause is probably a client error.
Check the following items and/or consult with CNC:
- Wait a while. If you have to wait too long, report to CNC.
- JavaScript is not active. Enable JavaScript in your browser.
- If the browser doesn't allow
pop-ups, click the button on the accept page.
- Refer to the above item about [Cannot run JavaScript]
- Check your spelling! Make sure
Caps Lock is turned off!
- Did you receive your userID and
password from CNC?
- If you send an authentication request from an already
accepted client, the second request is denied.
- If JavaScript is disabled, the
network is opened only for a fixed duration. Enable JavaScript.
- Network access is closed when no
packets from/to the client are passed for a long time.
- Do not use the accept page (with
the yellow bar) for browsing or the network will be closed.
Keep
the page open and use the network by using another browser
window or another application.
- If network is closed
frequently, adjust the time in the "Usage duration"
field of the authentication page.
- Does the accept page display the yellow bar? If not, read the
displayed message and contact CNC.
- The previous user might have left the session open. Network
access will be closed after a short time. If network access remains
open for a long time, please report to CNC.
- Reset the network settings of
your PC to their defaults.
- Check your personal firewall settings.
Special Uses:
- Even in this case, you should first authenticate using a web
browser.
The network will remain accessible for as long as the
browser (accept page) stays open.
It can be minimized into taskbar
(or iconized in some OS).
P2P is not permitted in our University.
- If the system has a web browser,
it can be used according to the procedure described above.
- If the connection is closed after authentication, adjust the
usage duration field of the authentication page.
